Our Adwater and EZI-ROC products are pet and wildlife safe

Wildlife & Pets

What about fish, turtles, birds and goats?  Are our adwater and EZI-ROC products compatible with pets and other wildlife?

Our products mimic nature and the addition of wildlife go hand in hand.  Here are examples of recent enquiries and answers to those questions.

  • Are our adwater pond shells non-toxic and can we have fish or turtles in them?
Yes we use non-toxic acrylic paint

  • Do we need a filter to keep the water clean?
Where there are no fish or turtles, a pump to move water may be all you need depending on the climate.  The control of algae can be a problem for new ponds due to lack of balance of plants and animal life.  All ponds with fish or turtles will benefit from having a biological filter system installed

  • Are our EZI-ROC rocks strong enough for goats to climb on?
We recommend extra reinforcing however bear in mind that this will increase the weight of any of our EZI-ROC products

  • How does salt water affect our EZI-ROCS?
Efflorescence (sometimes referred to as “whiskers”) may occur where the salt migrates to the surface of porous surfaces.  These salt deposits occur in nature as well and have a whitish appearance and may also appear on our adwater and EZI-ROC products

Versatility of Adwater Water Features and Gardenware

Every week Cempro receives enquiries regarding the possibility of mixing and matching our adwater products to attain a unique look for their garden setting. Or wondering if their own garden art or sculpture be compatible with our ponds or dishes?  Some clients make their own ponds for our adwater water features and need technical advice when it comes to volume of water that is needed to pump around and through the water feature.

Some of our three-tiered waterfalls can easily be adapted to two-tiers, such as the Shangri-la Falls or Babbling Brooks; in fact they have been specially designed with this in mind.  Some people may just want one of the tiers.  The possibilities are endless.  Another example of mixing and matching is illustrated below with the Neoclassical Water Feature, the Mayersbach Fountain.  Image on the left shows the traditional set-up and the image on the right illustrates the Mayersbach dish on top of the Mayersbach base and then placed on a flared bowl.

We are constantly surprised at some of the unique requests and are very happy to help out as much as possible.

About our EZI-ROC®

Cempro’s EZI-ROC landscape rocks are physically identical reproductions of real rocks found in our New Zealand environment. The EZI-ROC range includes river boulders, fluted limestone, quarry rocks, scoria rocks, larger feature rocks and even a cliff face. EZI-ROC rocks are hollow forms produced using a fibre reinforced cement bound matrix, giving them strength and durability. Their light weight makes them an ideal, easy solution for enhancing your landscape.

Image shows one of Cempro’s first EZI-ROC’s made 25 years ago. This is our large Feature Rock EZ201 which weighs 70 kgs. (original 800Kg)

Cempros drainage systems

Cempro’s drainage systems have been established since 1989. Our trademarked HYVOL channels are made of fibre reinforced cement here in Swanson, Auckland. Combine the HYVOL channels with our galvanized steel grates and you have a great solution for all your drainage needs.

Applications catered for include garage entrances, peripheral house drainage, car parks, vehicle crossings, heavy transport and forklifts. Cempro also have specially designed HYVOL slot channels for surface water catchment which are visually unobtrusive e.g. swimming pools.

Cempro also manufacture HYVOL sumps with end plates that accommodate the relative HYVOL channel size and type.

HYVOL has been favoured by contractors and specifiers for 20 plus years for its catchment capability and uncomplicated design.

More information on our HYVOL drainage systems can be found on our website or contact Kevin @ 09 832 9088.

Installation Guide Drainage Channels

Information on how to install your HYVOL® surface drianage channels.

1. Setting Up Drainage Channels

Position channels to line and grade on concrete support pads approximately 100mm from each butted joint. Leave until concrete pads have set.

2. Encasement with concrete

Encase drain channels to the minimum dimensions using high density concrete

Increase dimensions of the encasement concrete and reinforce with steel as necessary for the intended load and usage of the channels and site substrate stability.

Encasement concrete should be installed using acceptable engineering standards e.g it should be isolated from adjacent concrete by construction/contraction joints. These should also be applied to control longitudinal shrinkage of the encasement concrete.

If you need more details on the types of drainage channels and grate systems that we manufacture, advice about installing channels please contact Kevin @ 09 832 9088.
